Our History
Our story began in the mid-1800s when formerly enslaved African Americans established a place for community gatherings. Between 1884 and 1889, they constructed a white frame church, a schoolhouse, and a kitchen. The schoolhouse still stands today, a testament to their enduring legacy, while the church was demolished by congregation members in 1967.
